Nickel-based alloys have good mechanical properties, a good deformation capacity when cold, high durability, high heat resistance, resistance to oxidation at high temperatures, and high resistance to corrosion by many chemical agents.

It is for this reason that nickel alloys have found applications in industries as important as those of vehicles, aeronautics, aerospace, chemicals, and energy generation. In most cases these alloys make use of their excellent mechanical behaviour at high temperatures above the range of use of steels.
